About the Procedure
During arm lift surgery, also known as brachioplasty, Dr. Barone creates incisions on the back or underside of the arms. Through these incisions, she gently pulls skin and underlying tissues taut around the muscles of the arms and removes excess fat and sagging skin. Dr. Barone carefully sutures closed the remaining tissues of the arms and applies bandages.
In addition to the surgical skin removal process, Dr. Barone may also use liposuction on your arms, gently suctioning out fat tissue using a special instrument called a cannula. The combination of surgical tissue removal and liposuction gives the arms a beautifully svelte, naturally thin appearance.
The Recovery Period
After brachioplasty, you should plan on having a friend or family member available to drive you home. Dr. Barone will provide you with compression garments to wear for several days following surgery to reduce swelling and help prevent blood clots from developing, and you may receive specialized drainage tubes to release excess fluids. While your incisions heal, you will carefully clean your sutures and bandage them at home. You must refrain from exercise, lifting, and other physical activities for at least two weeks. During a follow-up appointment, Dr. Barone will evaluate your results, remove your stitches, and ensure that your incisions have properly healed. By exercising regularly and eating healthy, patients can maintain their newly toned, fit arms for years following surgery.
Investing in Your Appearance
Arm lift surgery begins at $3,000, although patients may incur additional costs based upon a few factors. The type of anesthesia or sedation a patient receives, the intensity of the treatment, and the addition of liposuction treatment all can increase the cost of arm lift surgery. Dr. Barone is proud to accept all major forms of payment as well CareCredit® patient financing.
Like our other body contouring treatments, arm lift surgery should be considered an investment not only in your physical appearance, but also in your self confidence and happiness. This treatment is a great option for you if:
- You have fat or disproportionate upper arms
- Your upper arm skin hangs or sags
- You have lost a substantial amount of weight and retained excess skin on your upper arms
- You struggle to tone your upper arms even with consistent exercise and a strict diet
- You are embarrassed to lift your arms because of their droopy or fat appearance
